PE

Dragonfly class will have PE on a Thursday afternoon, children should come into school dressed in PE kit appropriate for the weather.  They will also have swimming on a Wednesday when they need to bring their swimming kit into school.

How you can help at home

We ask that the children try to read, learn weekly sellings, practise their times tables and do some maths on their Mathletics account each week.

The children earn house points, stickers and prizes at school. Please make a note in your child's reading record of any of the below home learning undertaken and there will be a reward coming their way!

Below you can find further explanation. Please get in touch if you would like to ask any questions at all.

Reading At Home

Reading is something we love at school and we know families lead busy lives but please try to read together at least 5 times each week at home. The children can read with anyone in the family but it is ideal if they read with an adult at least a few times each week. The children can fill out their own reading records to note down when they have read but again, it is nice for them to have comments from a parent or carer at least once a week if possible. If they read 12 times, they will receive a small prize as a reward.

Times tables

In Year 4, all children in the UK are tested on their times tables. We encourage both the Y3 and Y4 children to practise in as many ways as they can but this online game is a great, fun way to learn!

They should try to complete ten games in studio mode on TTrockstars each week.

We have also set up accounts for the children on timestables.co.uk. On this website you can find a 'mock' times table test just like the real one they will take in the summer term. It is a great way to practise. Using this on a laptop or desk top computer is best.

Our Y3 and Y4 children have accounts on both of the times tables websites.

Spellings

Each week your child's spellings will be on Ed Shed on a Friday. Each child has their own log in which has been sent home. The weekly spelling test will take place on the following Thursday.

We work with the children at school on the spellings but they should try to practise them at home as well. Ed shed has a wide variety of ways to practise online.
